There are times when a standard physical examination isn’t enough to detect and diagnose a pet’s medical condition. Thanks to advances in veterinary medicine, health problems are being detected and treated much earlier, leading to longer lives for pets. While a thorough physical exam certainly helps our vets evaluate your pet’s health from the outside, our diagnostic services can help us understand what’s happening internally. We offer a variety of safe and non-invasive diagnostic care options that give our veterinarians much-needed insight into your pet’s health.
We offer a wide range of diagnostic tests both in our in-house laboratory as well as through outside laboratory services. Your pet may appear to be healthy on the outside, but the results of a blood test, fecal exam, or urinalysis can indicate otherwise. These tests are used to help us detect illnesses or diseases that are still in the early stages of development.
For example, blood tests can be used to evaluate the health of internal organs such as the kidneys, liver, pancreas, and adrenal glands. We can also analyze your pet’s blood to look for signs of infection, anemia, blood clotting disorders, diseases-related antigens, and other conditions.
We also offer fecal and urinalysis testing. Fecal exams are often used to detect the presence of internal parasites like roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, coccidia, and giardia. Urinalysis is a useful tool in evaluating the function of internal organs including the bladder and kidneys. Reviewing the results of a urinalysis exam can help veterinarians detect serious health problems.
At Princevalle Pet Hospital, we use digital radiography (X-rays) to safely examine your pet’s internal organs and bone structures. This technology uses digital X-ray sensors to create an image in just a few seconds, using significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays. This not only means that it’s safer for your pet, it allows us to get results back quickly so you don’t have to wait.
In addition to the above services, we also offer cardiac ultrasonography through a consultant. If you’d like more information about our pet diagnostics or if you need to make an appointment, feel free to contact us.
