Pet Vaccinations and Exams

At Princevalle Pet Hospital, our goal is to improve your pet’s health and well-being so you can enjoy many happy years together. That’s why we strongly believe in the power of preventative care in the form of pet vaccinations and exams. Annual or bi-annual examinations are the foundation of any comprehensive pet wellness plan. When our veterinarians examine your pet regularly, they’re able to get a better understanding of your pet’s baseline health. To further protect your pet’s health, we also offer medication for the prevention of internal and external parasites.

About the Wellness Exam

Every wellness exam includes a complete nose-to-tail assessment of your pet’s health and typically includes:

  • Weight check
  • General physical examination including the eyes, ears, and skin.
  • Temperature assessment
  • Evaluation of the oral cavity
  • Listening to the heart and lungs
  • Mobility or lameness exam

Since pets age more rapidly than humans do, it’s vital to catch potential problems before they become serious. This is why we need to assess your pet once or twice per year (depending on their age) in order to detect changes as they develop.

Pet Vaccinations

Once the examination has been completed, we will determine an appropriate vaccination schedule for your pet. Keep in mind that vaccination protocols are not “one size fits all.” There are some required core vaccines, such as rabies, but your pet’s vaccination needs will be determined by factors such as their species, age, lifestyle, risk of exposure, and medical requirements. As proponents of personalized pet care, we tailor a vaccination schedule to fit your pet’s unique set of needs.

Having your dog or cat fully vaccinated also goes a long way toward protecting your pet’s health. Vaccines are used to deliver disease-fighting antibodies to your pet’s immune system. These antibodies act as additional support, better equipping their body to fight off disease.

If you have any questions during the wellness examination, feel free to ask the veterinarian. We know that well-informed pet owners make the best pet owners. We want to equip you with the information you need to care for your precious pet and keep them as healthy as possible.
